Pepper

Origin:
May – Dec (SA)

Mesi: August
Stagione: Autumn Summer

The pepper is a herbaceous plant from the Solanaceae family, with petiolate leaves, white flowers and berry-type fruit that is hollow on the inside except for its seeds. It appears to have originated in Brazil and was undoubtedly introduced into Europe after the discovery of the Americas.

Peppers can be split into sweet and hot, the latter belonging to the frutescens family and being used mainly for seasoning purposes.

Our sweet peppers fall into at least four categories according to shape: quadrato (four-sided), cuore di bue (heart-shaped), popone (round) and a corno (horn-shaped,including the green friarello from Naples).
