The plum is the fruit of the Prunus Domestica, a tree in the Rosaceae family originally from Asia, which produces fruit called plum or damson.

In the wild, the tree can reach a considerable height (up to 12 metres) and develop an impressive breadth. The flowers are white and the fruits, which range in colour from green to red and deep purple, can be round or elongated and between 3 and 9 cm in diameter.
